Well in a normal neuron an electrical impulse arrives at the neuron's terminal and the vesicle moves to the neural membrane and releases its load of dopamine into the synaptic cleft. It crosses the gap and binds to the receptors on the membrane of the next neuron. Then certain enzymes are released or inhibited and a new electrical impulse is created, and is later taken back into the neuron by re-uptake pumps. So bascially, it is just best that the dopamine does not remain in the synaptic cleft. In a Parkinson's affected neuron, the dopamine-producing cells have died, and normally the dopamine that is there, moves very slowly across the synaptic cleft which causes the tremors, muscle rigidity and many other neurological complications. It has even been found in people who have schizophrenia, ADHD, and ADD.
