The same as in Germany. A plug has two symmetrically lying round pins and nowadays plugs are produced with two further contacts on the top and bottom for ground. This special one ist called Schukostecker (Schutzkontaktstecker - safety contact plug).

Bakelight is resistent to heat. This is one reason why it is used in plugs. It also is not a conductor of electricity, this is another reason it is used in plugs.
