Some scholars suggest that the gospels could be based on a wandering preacher named Jesus (Joshua) who may have lived during the early part of the first century, or even earlier, but that this person did not perform miracles and was not the Jesus we see described in the gospels.

∙ 8y agoChristians have long sought extra-biblical proof that Jesus was crucified. Certainly, no contemporary records exist that Jesus was tried and executed, so it became necessary to create post-factum records such as the spurious Acts of Pilate.
During the Middle Ages, enough genuine pieces of the cross were found to build several crosses. And several shrouds in which Jesus was wrapped were also found. The most famous of these is the Shroud of Turin, but this has now been proven conclusively to be a fake.
