What prophet foretold the birth place of Jesus?

The Prophet Micah was inspired to write at Micah 5:2, "And you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah The one too little to be among the thousands of Judah, From you will come out for me the one to be ruler in Israel, Whose origin is from ancient times, from the days of long ago.

Micah foretold the birthplace of Jesus.

Knowledge of this prophecy was confirmed by prominent members of Jewish society:

• ... King Herod called a meeting of the chief priests and lawyers of the Jewish people, and asked them: "Where is the Messiah to be born?" "At Bethlehem in Judaea", they replied; and they referred him to the prophecy which reads: "Bethlehem in the land of Judah, you are far from least in the eyes of the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come a leader to be the shepherd of my people Israel." Even the common people were aware of this prophecy:

No one actually prophesied the birthplace of Jesus. However, we do have Micah 5:2 which, although referring to a hoped-for military leader, has been interpreted as prophesying the birthplace of Jesus: "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. " [The words 'from everlasting' replaced the original words 'of yore', which were much less messianic.]
