In other words, banning online gambling is not due to the best interest of the general population, but of those who profit from gambling in national territory.
A common excuse given by them is money laundering, but that's just a cover for their true motives; if they were that worried about such an issue, there are many other places they should start with, like several non-profit organizations which claim to be raising funds to make donations to some cause and end up giving less than 10% of the millions (or billions) of dolars recieved.
