There are a very large number, and a complete list would not be feasible. But some examples can be given. While the .223 Remington is dimensionally similar to the military 5.56x45 cartridge, the two are not the same. A 5.56 rifle may chamber a .223 cartridge - it is not recommended to try firing 5.56 ammo in a rifle with a dedicated .223 chamber.

The AR-15 and variants and clones, Ruger Mini 14, and Kel Tec SU16 are some more common examples of rifles which can chamber the .223 Remington cartridge. The ones listed have a 5.56x45 chamber, although Target models of the Ruger Mini 14 have a dedicated .223 Remington chamber.

Variants of rifles such as the Winchester Model 70, Remington 700, and Ruger No. 1 have been made with dedicated .223 chambers.

Can a 22 long rifle and a 223 bullet interchange in a rifle?

Not without modification. Some 5.56x45 and .223 Remington rifles have a device available for them which allows them to fire .22 Long Rifle rounds... typically, the device replaces the bolt carrier group.

Is there a difference between 223 caliber and 556 mm?

Yes there is a difference. They are physically the same size casing, but the 556 military rounds' chamber pressure is ~10,000 psi higher then 223. Military rifles generally have chambers with a different throat configuration than normal sport 223 rifles. This being said, I would not recommend shooting 556 unless your rifle was designed for the higher pressures.

Can 223 rounds be used in a 22 rifle?

What guns shoot a 223?

Let's see... Remington makes a variant of the 700 chambered in .223, I believe the Ruger M77 is available in .223... not 100 percent certain about the Winchester Model 70, but I believe it is or was available in .223. .223 Remington ammunition can also be cycled through rifles chambered for 5.56x45, such as the AR-15, Ruger Mini 14 Ranch (the Target models have a dedicated .223 chamber), variants of the Daewoo K2, Kel Tec SU17, some AK-based rifles, etc.

Can an ar15 shoot a bullet from an m16?

Most AR-type rifles are chambered for the 5.56x45 cartridge - the standard cartridge used by NATO (and also by several non-NATO) forces for their military's assault rifles. They can also chamber the .223 Remington cartridge, although a firearm with a dedicated .223 Remington chamber should not be used for military 5.56x45 ammunition.

Does 5.56 ammo fit 223 bolt action rifles?

No. If it does not have 5.56 on the barrel then use .223 ammo.
