Fine grains of rocks are referred to as "clasts." The word "clast" comes from the Greek word "klastos," meaning "broken."
Nearly all rocks have grains, even though some may not be visible without magnification. Rock with visible grains would include granite, schist, and sandstone. Rock with very small grains would include shale, slate, and basalt. Obsidian actually has no mineral grains due to its rapid cooling from lava.
Granite is a rock with large mineral grains.
Sandstone is a rounded grain rock. They are layered and perfectly rounded! :)

No. Sandstone is not a mineral, it is a rock type.
A metamorphic rock
When water combines with mineral grains, the grains become larger. The increase in size of mineral grains strains the rock material and weakens it.
Metamorphic rock may have coarse, flattened, or aligned mineral grains.
