Bettas are meat eaters but they also eat pellets. When bettas were in the wild they would eat flys nd other things. I suggest not putting small fish with bettas because they like to..........eat them! Im sorry to say but , yes they do eat smaller fish, THEY EVEN EAT THERE BABYS! Yes , its true , they eat there babys , well the males doesnt eat the eggs , [all of the time] , but the females do . The males will take care of the eggs in the bubble nest and even when they hatch. They take care of them until they are out of the bubble nest , swiming freely. Then I suggest you take the male out or he will eat them. That's when you put the female back in and she will take care of the babys until they grow up!
If you do all of this then you will have baby bettas. I am sayin this because i have baby bettas in the bubble nest my male betta built , right now! There so little and they kinda look black but don't let that black fool you because when they get out of the bubble nest they turn CLEAR! So keep a close eye on your bettas , and have fun being a batta parent!
fishI have had my beta for over a year and I feed him once a night- sometimes he skips his feeding.I usually feed him about 3-5 little pellets- although the food directions call for two feedings of 7 pellets at a time.
Live brine shrimp and blood worms are good. They can also substitute for the usual food you give your fish. They love live food but, DO NOT EXEED THE AMOUNT THAT YOUR FISH CAN EAT IN FIVE MINUTES.
Well, betta enjoys lots of foods like betta pellets, flakes, soft bread or crackers and even fresh vegetables
Usually there are special kinds of pellets for bettas. I know Tetra makes great betta food. Check out your local pet store.they also have betta food that enhances there color
Feed him? if he refuses to eat them he's sick, but they can live for seeral days without food.
You will end up killing your Betta if you don't feed it properly. Canned fish for humans is no good for Bettas. The Betta will not eat it and it will poison the water.. Bettas are insectivorous fish and will eat Mosquito Larvae, Brine Shrimp etc. A Betta can live for some considerable time without food, so if you can't get to a pet shop and buy some Betta food, you can always order Betta food online and should get it within a week or so.
It is always wise to vary the food of any fish. Adding a bit of live food such as Brine Shrimp once a week (or more) is good.
no they eat freeze dried blood worms, live food,or Betta food bought from a store.
You could try feeding them flakes, live food, or frozen foods. Well am only a kid so if they don't work go back to Pellets, or go to website like petsmart.com and see what they to feed your betta (it dosent matter what kind of betta or gender your betta is).
Sorry, type in: how do betta fish live?
Bettas can eat worms, brine shrimp, frozen live food, freeze dried live food, and that's it. DO NOT feed your bettas FLAKES. They will give you a look you will never see again.
Small pelleted foods, flake foods and many types of frozen and frieze dried such as bloodworms. The food you should feed your beta fish is betta specific food pellets they also enjoy brine shrimp and frozen bloodworms. Make sure the betta fish is given 6 to 7 brine shrimp at a time.P.S Don't Forget To Feed Your Betta!
Small crustacea, insect larvae, certain algaes, tiny fry. Basically anything live that it can catch and eat.
Depends on the fish, my betta's get a treat of frozen bloodworms or live mosquitos.
omnivore
To list them all here is beyond my capabilities. If you wish to supply a Betta with all the essential vitamines and minerals etc that it needs, you should feed it specialised Betta foods and suplement it with weekly treats of live food such as mosquito larvae and daphnia.
