Parakeet nest boxes need to be at least 6" x 7" x 7" with a 1.5" diameter hole, although some breeders prefer a wider nest box with the hole st off to one side so the female doesn't land on the eggs when she enters. In that case, I recommend a box around 6" x 7" x 10" (H x D x W).

Cage size depends on how much time the birds spend inside their cage versus outside their cage and how much "stuff" (accessories) you put in the cage. If birds spend much of their day outside their cage and only nap, sleep, and eat inside, the cage size can be smaller than for a bird(s) that spend all their time inside their cage. Birds that spend all their time inside their cage need lots of room. Also, the number of items you include in the cage takes up space, so in selecting cage size, determine how many toys, feed/water dishes will be necessary, perches, etc., and number of birds. Birds must be able to vigorously flap their wings inside their cage without any part of their bodies touching anything inside the cage...this would be the minimum cage size. Also take into consideration the personalities of the birds involved, their sexes, etc. Some birds require more room than others in order to live peacefully together. Bigger is always better when it comes to housing birds.

it depends on the number of parakeets you want to breed. if you want to breed 2 parakeets in one cage i suggest a cage of 16 inch width,18 inch length, and a 18 inch height. if you want to breed 4 parakeets get 20 inch width, 22 inch length, and 22 inch height cage. if you add 2 more parakeets to your aivary then just add 4 inches to the widht, length, and height of the cage and that would tell you the right cage size!

Really, the parakeets probably won't breed unless you give them a breeding box to do it in. They might not breed in the box, but it'll, er, prompt them into doing it.

the minimum cage size is 18 inches for width, 18 inches for length, and18 inches for height. hope this helps! by the way the bigger the cage is the better for your birdie to play and move around comfortably!

It should be but if it was my parakeet I would go bigger. Remember bigger is better, and in my experience parakeets love having a friend so I would consider getting a bigger cage and getting two parakeets.

it has to be big enough for both to spread their wings and turn around. if you want a handleable parakeet you should only have one as two will bond together and they will not like you!!!!!!

Do you need to play with a parakeet all day?

Well parakeets need to be out of their cage for t least an hour a day, you can have it out longer but if your bird is one that does not like to be messed with I would suggest letting it on top of the cage and carring it just occasionaly.

How big does a cage need to be for 1 male rat?

you would probably need a medium sized cage for a male rat as they are quite big. but you could get a cage with a few ladders and and a exercise wheel to keep it active.

How do you take care of the eggs your parakeet had?

For parakeet eggs, letting the parents incubate the eggs and raise the young is best. If you plan on breeding your parakeets I would recommend getting books or reading on the internet information specific to the species of parakeet you would like to raise, there are many different types and each type has its own special needs. If you have only 1 parakeet and it has lain an egg on the bottom of the cage you may discard that egg. Since there is no boy bird, and the egg was not laid in a nest specific to that type of parakeet it will not hatch.
