A CD-RW is a re-writable compact disc. Penn Foster students the answer is C. secondary storage. i just took the test and its correct me too. thanx
This is a rewritable CD introduced in 1997. A CD-RW disc can be written and erased roughly 1000 times. While a prerecorded compact disc has its information permanently stamped into its polycarbonate plastic substrate, a CD-RW disc contains a phase-change alloy recording layer composed of a phase change material. CD-RWs are not as reliable for long-term storage; however, under recommended storage conditions, CD-RW should have a life expectancy of 25 years or more (as compared to 100+ years for CD-R)
The CD-RW can be used for music and picture storage. The most common file formats for music files and picture files are the mp3 and JPEG formats.
Both are blank storage media for computer or music data. The CD-R is differant from CD-RW's in that data can only be written to and not changed or removed. With CD-RW (ReWrite) you can overwrite sections on the disk to change what was previously burned onto it, once data is written CD-R's it stays there.
