fish, birds, lizards, cats, dogs, snakes, and turtles
It varies from store to store, my store in AZ sells hamsters, mice, rats, and guinea pigs.
-- This is an improvement to the above answer--
As a PetSmart employee, it does vary from store to store, but I would like to correct that we do not sell dogs and cats. True- a lot of stores have a cat adoption center, but this is not done like a regular pet sale. Cats are housed in store kennels and come from an adoption agency. MOST PetSmart stores do not simply allow a cat to go home with just anybody. If you are lucky and are approved right away, you would get to go home with the fuzzy feline within a couple of days (after a vet check and home inspection in most cases).
Dogs are also done the same way, except the stores are usually not equipped to house them. In this case adoption events are held (usually on the weekends) where one to three shelters/rescues/adoption agencies bring puppies and dogs that are available to find a forever home.
If you happen to see a section of the store which has dogs in it, this is a store that also has a Pets Hotel. Training classes, Doggy Day Camp, and boarding is all a part of the services PetSmart provides customers and their dogs. Those dogs are NOT for sale. We work with charities and adoption agencies and heavily warn people to keep away from buying a cat or dog from a pet store (as these are usually milled animals) and suggest/recommend that they buy from a reputable breeder or-- better yet-- adopt from a shelter or rescue to give an animal a second chance.
And to elaborate on the original post--
Lizards: Bearded Dragons, Leopard Geckos, Crested, Chameleons, Chinese Water Dragons (usually the most common selection you'll find)
Birds: Finches, Parakeets, Conures (usually one at a time-- some stores vary the type, too), etc..
Furries: Rats, Mice (pets, not feeders!!), Hamsters, Gerbils, Guinea Pigs, Chinchillas (normally do not find Ferrets or Rabbits here)
Other: Corn Snake, Ball Python, Red Ear Slider Turtles, Russian Tortoise

Yes, a nine-year-old can help with animals at PetSmart under certain conditions. Many PetSmart locations offer programs where children can participate in animal care activities, often with adult supervision. However, specific policies may vary by location, so it’s best to check with the local store for age requirements and available volunteer opportunities.

Some animals that eat snails include birds, frogs, toads, snakes, and some species of insects like beetles. These animals are known to prey on snails as part of their diet.
no
PetSmart offer pet grooming for cats and dogs in their local stores. PetSmart groomers will be able to recommend the best grooming for the animal in question.
PETA investigated PetSmart in 2005, focusing on the treatment of animals in their stores and supply chain. The investigation revealed concerns about animal welfare practices, leading to public outcry and criticism of the company's policies. PETA has since continued to monitor and criticize PetSmart regarding its treatment of animals.
Yes Petsmart does accept dog food coupons. They are a pet store that specializes in food for all kind of animals and will accept many coupons.
No, they provide services and products for dogs and many types of animals.
I doubt that, but if it is sick and not nice, they might. It probally depends on why you are returning it.
There are many jobs at PetsMart. One job is to work the register. Also, another job is to clean up and restock the shelves. One can also work with the animals in the back.
who owns petsmart?
PetsMart has never sold dogs or cats. They do sell small animals: rodents, snakes, lizards. They have created a nonprofit branch called PetsMart Charities that helps find homes for animals, including dogs and cats. These have been started in many states, but I do not believe they have one in New York state yet. They also sponsor a National Adoption Weekend every year in May.
