A mouse will usually give a squeak if it feels the need to, if it is scared, upset, angry or in pain. A mouse likes to feel secure in it's environment, and if someone tries to pick it up while it is scared it is likely to bite and go into an aggressive posture while making audible sounds.

They make a small squeaking kind of sound, we have two mice and they often chat to each other... Very cute!

Just listen when it's quiet, you can hear them mainly when they are very awake or when you greet them

Mice normally make a clicking, squeaking and squealing noise, just as rats do.

Mice squeak and chatter their teeth. They crunch seeds and other things loudly and make a lot of scampering noises when nesting in the walls of my house.
