The Voyager 1 spacecraft discovered Jupiter's ring.
Neptune has 13 known moons and a ring system with 5 principal rings, which were discovered in 1989 by the Voyager 2 space probe. (see related question)
Each of the four outer gas planets; Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune have a ring system, but Saturns rings are by far the most spectacular. Neptune and Jupiters ring system is very feint.
He produced increasingly powerful telescopes, through observing Moon's phases he discovered that Moon is not smooth, he discovered four moons revolving around Jupiter, he had discovered the puzzling appearance of Saturn, later to be shown as caused by a ring surrounding it, in Florence he discovered that Venus goes through phases just as the Moon does.
Nobody knows exactly whom discovered the Pacific Ring of Fire, but Theodore Patrick was one of the first to use the term "Pacific Ring of Fire"
The planet had been spotted many times in the past, but it was always thought to be a star or other heavenly body. William Hershel viewed the planet in 1781. He originally thought it to be a comet. It was on March 17, 1781, that he realized that Uranus was indeed a planet.
Jupiter's ring first observed in 1979 by the Voyager 1 space probe
yes

the discoveries of the probes include new information about the motions of Jupiter's atmosphere and the discovery of three new moons. Voyager probes also discovered that Jupiter has faint dust rings around it and that one of its moons has volcanoes on it.
Jupiter does have a feint ring system. It was discovered by the voyager space probes in the 70's, only seen whn looking back on the planet.
You take your ring to a local jeweler and ask that the jeweler test the diamonds with a probe to confirm that they are, or are not, diamonds.

that it was a planet made of gas. one time nasa even sent a monkey there to see if it could live but as soon as it stepped out of the spaceship it explodeed. they were going to send a cat there too but people complaned that it was animal abuse.
http://www.stariel.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/Saturn.jpg is what I'm assuming you're referring to. that's Saturn. other planets have ring systems too, but no where near as obvious as saturns (or as pretty) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rings_of_Jupiter here is another useful page referring to jupiters rings.
Voyager 1 in 1979.
He discovered them in the year of 1610.
Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus all have rings.JupiterJupiter's rings were discovered in 1979 by the Voyager 1 space probe. In total, there are 4 rings, and are in the following order (going from the innermost to outermost): Halo Ring, Main Ring, Amalthea Gossamer Ring, Thebe Gossamer Ring.SaturnSaturn's rings were discovered in 1610 by Galileo as he observed the planet through his telescope. In total, there are 7 rings, named in order of their discovery, and they are in the following order (going from the innermost to outermost): C, B, A, D, F, G, and E.NeptuneNeptune's rings were first detected in 1968 but weren't noticed until 1977, when Uranus's rings were discovered. In total, there are 5 rings, and they have the following order (going from the innermost to outermost): Galle Ring, Leverrier Ring, Lassell Ring, Arago Ring, Adams Ring.UranusUranus's rings were discovered by James L. Elliot, Edward W. Dunham, and Douglas J. Mink, on March 10, 1977. In total, there are 13 rings, and are in the following order (going from the innermost to outermost): 1986U2R, 6, 5, 4, Alpha, Beta, Eta, Gamma, Delta, Lambda, Epsilon, Nu, and Mu.
