step 1: rent 375 cfm air compressor step 2: rent 300 pound sand pot with 1 1/4 inch supply hose, water trap, 1 inch ID sand blast hose with deadman control, use 1/2 inch long barrel nozzle. Use coarse blasting media, dried and graded. Back plaster sand, if dried and graded will work. step 3: rent air supplied sandblasting hood with separate air pump Absolutely do not breathe dust when blasting or cleaning up sand in pool area. Do not reuse sand. Do not let sand or sand dust get into pool system, filters or pump. If there are multiple layers of paint or if lead is present in paint it may require hazardous waste disposal methods for used sand and paint particles. Buy sand by bulk and not by small bags. Plan on using 2 - 4 tons of sand for medium sized pool. Begin by getting 2 estimates from professional sandblasters to compare to total rental and supply costs.
