Dogs, like wolves, are very social animals and require the bondship of a pack in which to hunt and reproduce in. Many domesticated dogs live in a household with humans, which gives them their social adaption and aids them in their survival with abundant food and love.

Their keen sense of smell is astounding. They can smell the flesh of a dead carcass almost a half a mile away. The same can be said for their eyesight. Despite seemingly active during the day, in the wild wolves are nocturnal, meaning they hunt mostly at night in the protection of darkness. The pack works together to bring down their kill.

One way that a dog can be adapted to its environment is is fur type. A husky, for example has a very thick coat to keep it warm in colder climates. Another great example is a Chesepeake Bay retriever. These dogs are normally used for types of hunting that can involve swimming, such as duck hunting. Its fur has oils that repel water and allow for quicker drying. This allows for them to hunt in cold and wet environments. They also have webbed toes to aid in swimming.
