I have never come across a symbol for an electrical resistance box. As the resistance box is a test instrument and it would not be drawn on any electrical schematic there may not be a symbol designated for it. The last letter of the Greek alphabet is (Ω omega) and it is used for the electrical symbol for resistance.

The symbol for electrical resistance is an italic, upper-case, letter R.

The symbol for its SI unit of measurement, the ohm, is an upright, upper-case, Greek letter, Ω (pronounced 'omega').

What instrument is used to vary electrical resistance in a device?

Virtually all electrical devices (actually, all except for superconducting devices) have resistance. There is one type of electrical device that is found in almost every electronic circuit ever invented. It is used wherever the designer needs a specific amount of resistance in the circuit. I'd hate to spoil your fun by simply telling you its name. Think of all of the different names of electrical devices that your teacher has told you about. (or look in the index of your text book if you're in a hurry) Is there one that comes to mind when you think of RESISTance?

What is resistance welding?

Arc. It's where electrical resistance is used to create the heat for the welding process.

How is the ohm's law used in everyday life?

Ohm's Law states that V = IR (voltage = current times resistance). It can be used to find any of those three quantities if the other two are known. It is one of the most important formulae for calculations in electrical circuits - you will use it all the time.

What is the unit to measure the opposition to the flow of electrical current called?

Answer: Inductive reactance is the opposition to the change in current in an electrical circuit and is abbreviated Xl. Answer: The opposition to current flow is called resistance (for DC), or impedance (for AC; often just called resistance); the unit for both is the ohm.

What is the resistance of a unit used to mersure it?

The conventional unit of electrical resistance is the ohm

Does sugar create electrical resistance?

Sugar is not used in electrical circuits.

What are devises run by electrical energy represented as resistors in a circuit?

Do not confuse 'resistance' with 'resistor'. 'Resistance' is a quantity, wheras a 'resistor' is a circuit component. In schematic diagrams, the 'rectangular' (European) or 'zig-zag' (US) circuit symbol represents resistance, not a resistor. The circuit symbol, therefore, is used to represent anyresistive device.

What does the ohm symbol mean?

The ohm symbol is used to represent resistance of a component or in a circuit

What is insulating material used for?

insulating materials have low thermal/electrical conductivity values and hence can be used in applications where resistance to heat or resistance to the passage of electrical current is required.

The unit of electrical resistance is the?

The ohm is used to measure electrical resistance. Plural ohms. With a lil bit of koolaid. The ohm is an international standard unit of measure.Further informationThe basic unit of electrical resistance was given the name "The ohm" in honor of Georg Ohm.Georg Ohm invented the basic electrical law:Resistance (measured in ohms) = voltage (measured in volts) divided by current (measured in amps)which was later given his name: Ohm's Law.Ohm's Law can also be used to find voltage and current when it is expressed as:Volts = amps x resistanceandAmps = volts / resistance.Another answerThe S.I. unit of electrical resistance is the ohm, symbol Ω (omega).1Ω is defined as the resistance of a conductor which allows a 1 ampere of current to flow through it when a potential difference of 1 volt is applied.ohms
