The lungs are responsible for the removal of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the blood. Oxygen is taken in through the lungs during inhalation and exchanged for carbon dioxide during exhalation. This process ensures the elimination of CO2 from the blood and the supply of fresh oxygen to the body.
The respiratory system gets the oxygen from the air and releases CO2 from our body. The circulatory systemdistributes oxygen to individual cells and carries CO2 waste to the respiratory system.
Photosynthesis is responsible for lowering the levels of atmospheric CO2 since it is a requirement to make glucose. Cellular respiration produces CO2 as a by-product, so it is responsible for some atmospheric CO2.
