That would be Grace Darling.Grace Darling was born in 1815, in Bamburgh, Northumberland, the daughter of a lighthouse keeper. Grace became a heroine on 7 September 1838. On this day, the steamship Forfarshire ran ashore and broke in two on the rocks by the lighthouse where she was living, in the North Sea. Grace and her father rowed out in treacherous conditions to the steamship where she helped rescue nine people - four crew and five passengers. Unfortunately, another forty died in the accident.
