What are the four different kinds of thermometers?
Types of Thermometers - Applications Clinical Thermometers The clinical thermometers are used to measure the body temperature of the patient. There are again three types of clinical thermometers depending on the body part used to measure the temperature. Ear (Tympanic) thermometers Human ear is located near the brain. This makes it an accurate point to measure the body temperature. The temperature of the eardrum is measured by the ear thermometers. However, the eardrum is most fragile and delicate body part. Therefore, the body temperature cannot be measured by touching the eardrum. For temperature measurement, infrared sensors are used to remotely sense the temperature of the eardrum. Thermopile, an infrared sensor, is commonly used in ear thermometer. Pacifier Thermometers The pacifier thermometers are used to check the body temperature of babies or infants. They help measure the body temperature without irritating the baby. The thermometer is held in the mouth of the baby and the baby's natural sucking instinct is used to check its body temperature. The pacifier thermometers are very safe for checking the body temperature of babies. Underarm or Oral Thermometers The underarm thermometers are kept in the underarms to measure the body temperature of the patient. Likewise, the oral thermometers are held in the mouth for temperature measurement.

What are different types of thermometer with labelled diagram?
There are several types of thermometers. Clinical thermometers are used to measure the body temperature of the patient. Ear Thermometers make it an accurate point to measure the body temperature. Pacifier thermometers are used to check the body temperature of babies or infants. Underarm thermometers are kept in the underarms to measure the body temperature. Not to mention the food thermometers that are often used for checking the heat of the oil or pop up to let you know when the meat is done.

What is a cats' body temperature in celsius?
Cats body temperature is 38-39 °Celsius. WHO TO TAKE TEMPERATURE: This is done rectally using a rectal or oral thermometer either digital or mercury. Ear thermometers can also be used in cats. They are generally fast and easy but it is essential to use a proper technique to obtain an accurate temperature reading.

What are the different kinds of thermometers and their uses?
Contributed by 1st grader Mackenzie and her mom Julie: There are circle thermometers which are like a clock and you read the numbers from left to right. There are stick thermometers that go under your tongue, your arm pit or other body parts. The numbers go from bottom to top. There are digital thermometers that can go in your ear, on your finger or other body parts. There are inside thermometers and outside thermometers to tell the general warmth/coolness of the space/environment. There are different scales - Fahrenheit and Celsius. Thermometers may be used to take a person's body temperature, to tell how warm/cold it is outside or in a room, to test whether food is cooked to a desired temperature to be safe. We hope we helped you.

Body temperature can be measured by keeping the thermometre at some place oher then the mouth?
What type of thermometer does a doctor use?
There are a few different types of thermometers and a few different ways body temperature can be taken: - A tympanic thermometer measures the body temperature by taking a reading from the tympanic membrane in the ear. - The old mercury thermometers aren't used anymore, the risk of them breaking is too high. - Digital thermometers are about 15cm long and can measure oral, axillary or rectal temperature. They have plastic coverings to go over the top. Even though it is rarely used (except in paediatrics), for obvious reasons, the rectal method of measuring body temperature is the most accurate.

What is the instrument used for measuring body temperature?
Oral Thermometer When people think of a thermometer, they may think of the traditional glass thermometer placed in the mouth. Today, most oral thermometers are digital and made of some sort of plastic. These are used by placing the thermometer under the tongue and waiting for the alert that the reading is complete. Some oral thermometers can also be used as rectal thermometers. Tympanic Thermometer Tympanic thermometers are used by inserting the thermometer into the ear. The thermometer has a cone shaped to fit inside the ear canal. However, according to Consumer Reports, this type of thermometer is not accurate in young children and must be perfectly aligned to get an accurate temperature. Forehead Thermometer Forehead, or temporal, thermometers take a temperature reading through an infrared scan of the temporal artery in the forehead. Some temporal thermometers work through rolling the scanner over the forehead, calculating the temperature based on the heat detected. Basal Thermometer A basal thermometer is used by women tracking ovulation through changes in temperature. It is an extremely sensitive thermometer that records temperatures to 0.1 degree Fahrenheit increments, rather than 0.2 degree Fahrenheit increments. Pacifier Thermometer Another option for young children is the pacifier thermometer. This thermometer is shaped like a pacifier and after your child sucks on it for about 90 seconds, an oral temperature is taken

What are the measurements use to measure the body temperature?
Temperature is measured in degrees. There are three basic scales for temperature: Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin. Body temperature is taken using one of several kinds of thermometers: oral, rectal, skin-reading (under the arm or on the forehead), or in the ear canal. You say that your temperature is (number) degrees (type of scale used), such as 99 degrees Fahrenheit.

What is the best thermometer to use on people?
An aural (in ear) thermometer is a good modern device, and measures the temperature in the outer ear. It is more expensive than a mercury clinical thermometer, but is simpler to prepare between patients, and completely avoids the problems of broken glass thermometers, and spilt mercury. Mercury clinical thermometers are however quite cheap.

Can you check a dogs temperature from his ears and how?
Feeling the ears, nose or head is not considered a reliable method; you have to determine your dog's internal temperature to find out for certain. This is done using an oral or rectal thermometer, either digital or mercury. Ear thermometers can also be used in dogs. They are generally fast and easy but it is essential to use a proper technique to obtain an accurate temperature.
