Oh gosh! This is such a common asked question and has people worried everywhere! The actual truth is that dogs nails are similar to humans, if a dog tears his/her nail, it might bleed a little but they SHOULD be bouncy and happy afterwards and it will eventually grow back. :)

∙ 14y agoWhen a dog rips off a nail it is a good idea to take them to a vet in order to get an antibiotic to avoid potential infection and possibly a pain killer. After words there are some things you can do at home. Pour a little peroxide (NEVER ALCHOHOL) on the are 3 times a day to clean it (do not rub just pour it on. The peroxide will do the work) and apply an antibiotic ointment. Also three times a day. You may need help holdin the dog still. Over time it will heal.

∙ 13y agoApply pressure and if that doesn't stop it, buy styptic pencil (it is white and you can get it from Pet's Mart or Pet Co) and rub it on the nail. If that doesn't do it, call a vet.

Seriosly... why would u ever do that????? You would do this if your dog has a split/cracked toenail or have been cut to short to expose the quick. Yes you can use superglue to mend the nail together or stop the bleeding. They do make specific styptic gel for this purpose as well. If you have cut the quick, or trim your dog's nails regularly, it's best to have this on hand. If your dog's nail is cracked, super glue it together to mend it.
