If my dog eats a pen will he get ink poisoning?

Your dog can indeed get ink poisoning.

Actually my dog ate one too and i called poison control, they said thee ink is not toxic you just have to worry about the pen part puncturing somthing.

Ensure that he/she does not defacate indoors until the ink is removed from the digestive system. Is the ink in question toxic?

If it is from a pen it is not toxic, my dog did this and that's what posion control said. but see a vet just in case

It depends on how much ink. If it is a whole inkwell or pen, then i would go to the vet as soon as possible. If there is only a small amount then it should not be harmful for them to ingest it. If it is an average sized amount than I would try to wash out as much as possible.

In later years there have been a massive outcry regarding all the really toxic components of certain paints. This have led to the development of less toxic and water based paints. The main components of these are Latex, various pigments and water, none of which are particularly poisonous to digest.

Look at the tin of paint for a label. If the label shows any toxic symbols then take dog to vet. If no toxic symbols are shown, then dog should be fine. May have an upset stomach for a few days though.

I am sure a normal dog would not have more than a single lick of oil based paints and this is not dangerous as such.

If ever in doubt, then contact your local vet and bring the paint label and paint with you. The vet might if unsure about amounts ingested, induce vomiting (with hydrogen peroxide or salt water or similar) and the dog should be ok.

Take it to lort smith animal hospital, or the RSPCA. Ink is poinonous to dogs. If you dont libve near the rspca or lortsmith, take it to the closest vet.
