Dog urine can cause brown spots on grass due to its high nitrogen content, which can "burn" the grass. To prevent this, dilute the urine by watering the spot immediately after your dog goes. You can also train your dog to go in a specific area of the yard or use products that help neutralize the nitrogen.
Sodium Hydroxide will do the trick.
Dogs have a strong sense of smell and are naturally curious about the scents around them, including urine. They use urine to gather information about other animals and mark their territory. Your dog's interest in urine is a normal behavior driven by their instinctual need to explore and communicate with their environment.
