BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy, the scientific name for mad cow disease) is untreatable. It is caused by a normal protein in the cow's brain that mis-folds and cannot be broken down. This protein, which is called a prion when it is misfolded, then causes other copies of the same protein to refold into the wrong configuration. Because it is a basically indestructable misfolded protein, there is no treatment for the live animal and the only two ways known to destroy the protein after the animal has been euthanized is to completely incinerate the carcass or put the carcass through an alkaline hydrolysis machine.

There is very little treatment, most of which is symptomatic (anticonvulsants for seizures, etc.). The name of the disease is variant Creutzfeld-Jacobs disease (vCJD) and is a progressive, chronic fatal disease.

There are no treatments for BSE (bovine spongiform encephalopathy, the scientific name for mad cow disease) and there are no cures - it is a progressive neurologic disorder that is 100% fatal.

Well, technically you can't completely get rid of BSE. But, you can prevent it by not eating the parts of a cow that are susceptible to housing prions of BSE, and by encouraging farmers to not feed animal by product of any kind to their ruminant animals (cattle, sheep and goats, primarily.)

Hello,

I see you are asking "What are the treatments for chanarin dorfman disease?"

Chanarin-Dorfman syndrome (CDS) is an extremely rare genetic disorder characterized by dry, scaly skin at birth as well as progressive fatty liver disease, and various degrees of muscular involvement. Vision problems, hearing loss, short stature, and mild intellectual disability are also associated with this condition.

You can't. Livestock that get BSE have to be put down. Humans who get CJD die slowly, even when hospitals and nurses try to provide as much care and comfort as they can.

Can humans get mad cow disease?

People do not get Mad Cow Disease. No human can get mad cow disease but humans can be infected by eating meat from a contaminated cow that has mad cow disease. The disease in people that has been associated with humans is called variant Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD) that is also a progressive fatal neurological disease.

What happen if Mad Cow doesn't get treated?

Unfortunately, the same thing that happens if someone tries to treat the disease - the cow develops a progressive neurologic disease that eventually kills the cow.

Which season do people usually start getting mad cow disease?

Mad Cow is not a virus or bacterial infection like a cold or flu is that comes about as a seasonal thing. It is caused by a prion, and the chances that humans will contract Mad Cow is extremely low; there is no season that people can "start getting" Mad Cow disease.

We are aware of mad cow disease

Do proteins cause mad cow disease?

In a matter of speaking, yes. Mis-folded proteins are what cause "Mad Cow Disease," also known as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy in cattle or Creuztfeldt-Jakobson's Disease in humans.

What is the relationship between Mad Cow Disease and Creutzfeldt-Jakob Syndrome?

mad cow disease is when cows get it. when the disease is passed on 2 humans, it's called the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. so technically its the same thing, just in different species

What medical research is being done to treat mad cow disease?

None as far as I'm aware, as CJD or Mad Cow Disease is very difficult to catch, let alone treat in either humans or animals.
