That scene is in Act 3 scene 5. Right after the fight between Mercutio, Tybalt and Romeo. Tybalt kills Mercutio, then to avenge his death, Romeo slays Tybalt. The consequence is that Romeo is banished from Verona. If he is seen he will be killed. So they meet up in the dark, and he hides in the shadows.
