It depends on the mug.
If you use a heat retentive coffee mug, it will keep your coffee hot to the last sip (25 to 30 minutes); It requires one minute preheating in a microwave oven.

They prefer tea cups as tea is served very hot and a tea cup is thinner than a coffee mug so the tea will cool quicker oppossed to a coffee mug which is supposed to keep your coffee hot.
to keep it hot for a long time period you must use a double wall travel mug i bought an easy and cool coffee mug and it really keep my coffee hot for some hours! Thanks I hope it does help ;-)

When you put hot coffee into a mug, the heat is transfered by CONDUCTION since they are in direct contact with each other.
You can buy hot chocolate mugs at any local or non-local coffee shops. You can even get a hot chocolate mug from any online coffee mug shop which is not the best idea.
Not for very long... you'd be better off with a travel mug

E-bay for about $25. I don't think that one is still made. I have an old one. Partially broken. I bought one of the new switch type Mr. Coffee mug warmers. It just doesn't keep the coffee hot enough for my taste.
