All food consumed on every research station and field camp is imported by the government that supports that scientific work. Food is available there which is familiar to the culture of the supporting country.

Exceptions may be produce that is grown using hydroponic technologies. These foods include lettuce, tomatoes, spices and edible flowers. All food grown this way must be consumed on the continent, per the Antarctic Treaty.
