What is the opera used in the tomato sauce commercial?
The commercial is for Leggo's tomato paste, and named "Rhapsody In Red". The song is "La Donna e Mobile (the woman is fickle)" sung by Luciano Pavarotti. It is part of the opera Rigoletto written by Giuseppe Verdi in 1851. This is not Luciano Pavarotti singing. It may be Murray Mayday from Opera Australia. Based on the second part of the aria, it may be Kenneth Collins the great Spinto tenor of international acclaim who eventually moved to Australia to work for the Australian Opera as their principal tenor for all the big Spinto Verdi tenor roles. The cadenza is identical to the way he sang it, tone for tone, even the phrasing/breathing. It is not clear why the splice was made, although possibly because no one can sing those notes quite like Collins. Still, credit Murray as the first part is beautifully sung.

What are some famous songs of Pavarotti?
== == == == Luciano Pavarotti's "signature" piece, one he always sang at concerts and that was strongly associated with him, was an aria (a melodic song) called "Nessun Dorma" from the opera Turandot, by Puccini. It is very lyrical and ends with thrilling high notes that he always delivered with a lot of dramatic emphasis. He was also famous for his roles in the operas La Boheme, by Puccini, and Il Trovatore, by Verdi, and many more. Pavarotti also liked to sing traditional Italian songs, such as "Funiculi, Funicula" and "O Sole Mio." Maestro Pavarotti was a phemonenally gifted singer and much-beloved performer whose larger-than-life personality was matched by an incredible voice. It was a privilege to be alive while he was among us.
