The most violent type of volcanic eruption is were the volcano lies on a Destructive Subduction Zone. Here the magma is viscous, thick and gloopy and there are high concentrates of Silica and Carbon Dioxide meaning a pyroclastic flow will occur and it will be very dangerous.

The most violent volcanic eruption is produced by a boiler volcano. In a boiler volcano, water is trapped in porous rock that is being heated by the magma, to the point that the pressure of the boiling water will at some point cause a huge explosion. The famous Krakatoa eruption was of this type.

What is the most violent type of volcanic eruption?

Both the Pelean and Plinian eruptions are violent, and the Plinian (such as Vesuvius) are the most spectacular type. More specifically, there is a designation "ultra-Plinian" to describe highly explosive eruptions such as Kratatoa. The type of eruption that is most violent is when lava, ash and other materials are hurled into the air.

Which volcanic material would most likely be produced by a violent eruption?

Pyroclastic material would be produced by a violent eruption of a volcano. Pyroclasts are gases in highly viscous magma which expand as they explode pulverized rock up through the vent.

Is a volcanic eruption most likely to occur on the east coast of the US?

No. The west coast is the most likely place for a volcanic eruption.

What combinations is most likely to result in a violent volcanic eruption?

The most likely combination to result in a violent volcanic eruption is the presence of highly viscous magma (such as rhyolitic or andesitic magma) and a large amount of dissolved gas (particularly water vapor and carbon dioxide). These conditions can lead to a buildup of pressure within the magma chamber, causing a violent and explosive eruption. Other factors such as the presence of a vent or conduit for the magma to reach the surface and the structural weakness or faults in the volcano can also contribute to the severity of the eruption.

What do only the most violent volcanic eruptions feature?

The most violent volcanic eruptions are found in destructive/convergent plate boundaries. 80% of the world's active volcanoes are found occur along destructive boundaries. Acid-lava and composite volcanoes also cause the most violent eruptions as the lava is viscous and the opening of the volcano is sometimes blocked by hardened lava, causing a huge massive explosion during the eruption.
