What are facts about the Hagia Sophia?

A monumental structure of completely original design created by Anthemius and Tralles. For many centuries, it was the largest cathedral in the world, and is also on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

It was the Holiest site for Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Until the Ottoman Turks sacked Constantinople and converted the Church into a Mosque.

To this day the Holy Church/Mosque is now used as a Museum of all the old Orthodox Christian Iconic Art and the old Roman architecture in it.

It's an architectural wonder that was first built as a church, which was converted to a mosque after the Ottomans took over Istanbul, and then converted to a museum by the republican government in Turkey, simply to be reconverted into a mosque in 2020.
