Jane Austen started writing at a young age, with her family's support. She really didn't have any inspiration, she just wrote upon the things and events which happened in her lifetime. Characters were depicted off of people which she had encountered with.
Jane Austen drew inspiration for her characters from various sources, including real people she knew, her own observations of society, and characters from literature. For example, Austen's witty and independent heroines may have been influenced by her own personality and those of the women she observed in her social circle. Additionally, she may have taken inspiration from the characters in the novels she read and enjoyed during her lifetime.
We do not know the answer to this question except that Jane Austen herself said that none of her characters were based on specific real people. And while we do know that one real person appears in at least one of her books, the character was minor, and a memorial to a person who had died (Mr. Knightley's steward in Emma).
It is clear from Jane Austen's writings, that all of the major characters she portrayed were based on close observations of people she knew. In fact, every scene in her books could have been based on scenes she witnessed in her life; there were no battles, no ocean voyages, no scenes involving a married couple in private, not even any scenes where no women were present. She seems to be very scrupulous in portraying only things she could base on direct experience.
