surname = family name so you could say either son of Joseph or son of God

surname means literally name above, and since there is no name higher than Jesus he can't have a surname!

( Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name) philippians 2 verse 9

Back then people didn't have surnames. They were known from the town or city they came from or from their fathers name. These are some he could have been called: Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus son of Joseph, Jesus son of God.

He doesn't have a last name (surname). "Christ" (Greek Christos) is a title which means "anointed," just as does the Hebrew title "Messiah." It is just as correct to refer to the Lord as "Christ Jesus" (which appears 68 times in the New Testament, NKJV) as it is "Jesus Christ" (which is used 176 times).
