Napoleon was more of an onlooker in the Revoluton's early stages and likewise was more interested in the effects in would have on his native Corsica, being more concerned with the Corsican Independence Movement then with the French Revolution. He did play a pivotal role with the defense of the French Directory against the Royalist Counter-Revolutionaries. In particular, he drove the Royal Navy out of the port of Toulon and defended the Directory with a Whiff of Grapeshot in Paris. That last little episode killed 1,400 protesters and cleared the Paris streets.
He arrived late to revolutionary fervor but made up for it in the defense of the Directory with his "whiff of grapeshot"that killed 1,400 Rpyalist Revolutionaries on 5 October 1795.
Napoleon's importance to the french revolution includes that he created a rule that was copied by almost every country and this rule was that every man should be treated equally and this rule helped in the french revolution and he also fought in a lot of wars and he won gaining more land for the french and enabling them to gain much power.

Napoleon was not around for the Russian Revolution (which occurred in 1917). He controlled France in the early 1800s and died in 1821.
