Walt Disney raised the money and used his own privately made animation studio funds to start Disneyland. Then, once he realized how the outside world kept creeping onto his property in Anaheim, he decided to invest into a "Florida Project" in which he purchased large amounts of land under assumed names to get low property prices. He basically invested the money he had made up to that time from Disneyland in order to start Walt Disney World (renamed from Disney World after Walt's death in memory of Walt Disney).
