Hades father was Cronos the Titan who swallowed him at birth, as he also swallowed 4 of his brothers and sisters. They was released by their youngest brother Zeus. The three brothers Hades, Poseidon and Zeus defeated the Titans to become the Olympian gods and divided the ruling of the world between them by drawing lots. Zeus got the land and sky, Poseidon the sea and Hades the Underworld. Hades had a Helmet of Invisibility given to him by the Cyclopes which made anyone who wore it invisible. Hades became the god of the underworld because he lost a bet to his brothers basically.
