Yes. Shortly afterwards, Professor Quirrell attempted to steal the stone from the vault. Due to his failed attempt Lord Voldemort decided to share his body to keep a closer eye on him while they worked to steal it from Hogwarts.

Yes. The philosopher's stone was being kept in vault 713 but was removed on the 31st July 1991 by Rubeus Hagrid. Hagrid was taking the stone to Hogwarts to keep it safe from Lord Voldemort. Later that day, Professor Quirrell attempted to steal the philosopher's stone from Gringotts on behalf of Voldemort.
