Alot of Beatle fans were devasted and even 2 Beatle fans committed Suicide. Fans today still pay tributes to him. I was 10 when he died and I was a huge fan, and I didn't know what I was going to do. I cried 5 days after his death. Hopefully you get enough info out of this :-)

∙ 14y agoPopular opinion shifted back and forth through the years. People tended to love his Beatles music, and some of his solo works, but didn't like the stands he took on different causes, or his more experimental and politically-oriented music with Yoko Ono.
At the time of his death, most people forgot about any objections they'd had during his lifetime, and simply remembered the good things. (One of his own lyrics, to the song "Nobody Loves You When You're Down And Out", went "Everybody loves you when you're six foot in the ground".)

∙ 13y agoPeople, especially fans, were probably shocked by his death. He was very famous, and well known and had many famous songs. Elvis Presley died on August 16th, 1977 at the age of 42. It was said he died from cardiac arrhythmia. This sad day left many people in shock for months, maybe even years. Even now, around 35 years later, we still pay respect. With all the tributes performed, it doesn't seem he will be forgotten by anyone anytime soon. His albums are still listened to by supporting, loving fans who will stay fans forever, regardless of his death.

∙ 11y agoMonday Night Football host Howard Cosell made an announcement during the show, that Lennon had been shot and rushed to the hospital. He said later the news was "more important than any damned football game."
