Rationing was brought to the world, I'm not sure of before this, but it was small portions of food in the second and first world war. A person would have a sertain amunt of rations a week, like;

To start with, the rations were (per person per week):

  • Butter or lard: 4 ounces (113.4 grammes)
  • Sugar: 12 ounces (340.2 grammes)
  • Raw bacon or Ham: 4 ounces (113.4 grammes)
  • Eggs x2
  • Cooked bacon or Ham: 3.5 ounces (99.3 grammes)

This was not alot to them in 1918. Even the Royal people would have this amout. They used rations because of the bombing, so incase the supplies of where they got food from was cut of, they would have enough supplys.

This is why the set up properganda posters to help get people working on the fields growing crops.

A:Rationing was used to save food for the troops overseas in WWI and WWII.
