The earliest video game (or rather, interactive electronic game) was a missile simulator created on a cathode-ray tube in 1947. The first home console was the Magnavox Odyssey, the production of which started in 1966. It was released in its final form in 1972.
That would depend on your definition of the console. WAaaaaaay back in the late 70s there were PONG type games that were the first. These gaming devices hooked up to your TV's Ariel antenna input and just had two dial type controllers on a little box.
But, the first gaming console that I remember having a large library of cartridge games was the ATARI 2600.
