Mercury, Venus, mars, Jupiter and Saturn were all discovered hundreds of years before telescopes were invented as they can all be seen without a telescope. The remaining two (Uranus and Neptune) were discovered in more recent times with the use of a telescope. These last two planets are further away and can't really be seen with the naked eye.
