The American Civil War. Sorry, Roger Fenton photographed the Crimean War (1854), which precedes the ACW by 7 years at least. However, Matthew Brady, of whom you no doubt refer to, took more pictures that were related to the carnage and suffering.

Sorry, people photographed the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), which precedes the CW by 6 years at least. However, Micron, of whom you no doubt are, try looking up answers before you correct others.
