To go to all the world and spread the word of Jesus.

Two portions give the Commission's words, Matthew 28:18-20: "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Mark 16:15,16: "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."

Luke 24:46,47 mentions the Great Commission, but no quotes of Jesus.

The Great Commission is the command that Jesus gave to His disciples just before ascending into heaven. It's found in Matthew 28:19 - "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Where was the Great Commission?

According to Matthew's Gospel, Jesus told the women to send the disciples to Galilee, where he would meet them. This meeting took place in a mountain in Galilee and ended with the Great Commission, in which Jesus sent the disciples to teach to all nations, saying that he would be with them (spiritually) always. This is a very different tradition than that developed in Luke/Acts and somewhat copied in John, but most Christians do not notice the disjunctions.

Explain how water baptism is part of the great commission?

There are two things that need to be explained here before we can answer the question. Water baptism and the "great commission" The "Great commission" is Jesus' command to go into the world and preach the gospel to as many people as possible. It is the message that salvation comes through Jesus and no other. Water baptism is also commanded by Jesus. Baptism is and outward sign of what has gone on inside of a person. By going through baptism the person is saying to the world that I am a believer. I belong to Jesus. He is my master and Lord. Now we can answer the question: After a person has responded to the great commission by accepting Jesus as Savior then he is baptized to proclaim that to the world.
