How do transformers de-energize?

'De-energise' simply means to 'disconnect' or to 'switch off. When you switch off the supply to a transformer's primary winding, it de-energises.

What is the difference between power transformers and pulse transformers?

A 'voltage transformer', together with a 'current transformer', belong to a class of transformers called 'instrument transformers', whose purpose is to enable high voltages and currents to be safely measured by reducing their values to lower levels, while electrically-isolating these high voltages/currents from the measuring instruments. These transformers are also used to provide input to protective relays.A 'power transformer' is a transformer used in the electricity transmission and primary distribution systems, whose function is to either step up generated voltages (11 - 25 kV in the UK) to transmission levels (400 kV in the UK), or to step down these high voltages at 'load centres', such as towns and cities.

To moderate the high voltage of currents entering a house from power lines a is used?

transformer YES but transmission is 475kv and distribution is 16kv and finally one phase out of a transformer on a pole or on the ground. An electric switch yard will have transformers to reduce to distribution voltage.

What types of transformers used in 220 kv double bus switch yard?

We use double rating transformer, in this we have two type of cooling . ONAN & ONAF, According to cooling we have two rating.

What is a inruse current in transformer?

since the dc resistance is very low if you close the switch during a peak voltage time you have a very high current for at least a portion of the first cycle Most large transformers use a starting reactor

Can a water sprinkler system be used for transformer fire protection?

Yes, there is a well-defined standard for "water-mist" sprinkler systems for protection of electrical transformers and switch-gear, including required minimum spacing according to the voltages present.

What is Core in a Transformers?

It steps down voltage by moving the iron core spacing. Mostly using on high current welding transformer. Easy to achieve changing output voltageand does not need to use high power selector to switch voltage

Why on load or off load tap changer is always connected in the primary side of a power or distribution transformer. And why distribution and power transformer are rated MVA?

The size of any switch depends on current it carries. Your statement is true for step down transformers. The primary is HV hence less current, so the tap changer is on primary side.

Can fused feeders for the line side of a transformer pass through the same gutter with the load side of the same transformer?

As long as the voltage insulation factor of the conductors are the same and they are of the same circuit fed by the primary side of the transformer's disconnect switch then yes the two feeders can be run together. It is not usually done though because the transformers feeders usually start at an MCC or splitter of one voltage and the load side of the transformer usually goes to a distribution point of some sort at a different voltage.

What is the difference between electronic and magnetic transformer?

All transformers are magnetic. A transformer is two (or more) coils of wire wound together. The varying magnetic field created by the primary winding induces a current in the secondary coils proportional to the ratio of the number of turns. You're probably refering to a switchmode powersupply as a "electronic transformer" (which is bad nomenclature, by the way). A switch mode supply actually contains a normal transformer in its core, along with circuitry to allow for a wide input fange and a narrow output range.

What the effect of switch on the no load transformer?

specially for high voltage operation

What main by OCTC and OLTC in the transformer?

OCTC means off circuit tap changer (off load tap changer) and OLTC means on load tap changer. in octc we can change the tap position while the transformer is in off condition only. we can not change the tap position of octc in charged condtion of the transformer. the tap position of octc can be change in deenrgise condion of transformer only means if you nwant to chang the tap position firstly you will have to deenrgise the power transformer then you can change the tap position of octc.while in oltc we can change the tap position of OLTC in charged condition of power transformer. This is the basic diffirence between OCTC and OLTC.generally the OCTC used in single phase generating transformer (G.T.Power Transformer) and OLTC used in three phase powwer transformers like standby transformer and auto transformer in power plants and switch yards. for any other question please mail me at (ashu_uit2007@yahoo.co.in )
