Because of it's ability to stand high temperatures Tungsten is mainly used as light bulb filaments.

Its melting point (3695 K, 3422°C, 6192°F) is the highest of all non-alloy metals and second highest element after carbon (diamond).

Other uses of it include model rocket igniters, bullets, and also in rocket engine nozzles. Similar to the lightbulb filaments, it also has been used in heating elements and kiln heating elements.
