In 1947, he hit the first pinch-hit homer in Series history.
Berra, who was named the American League's Most Valuable Player Award three times in the 1950s, won 10 world championships in his 14 World Series as a player. He also managed both the Yankees (in 1964) and the New York Mets (in 1973) to World Series appearances.
