I don't remember the name of the book, unfortunately. It was about a boy who was blinded by firecrackers thrown at his face. I spent the next day blindfolded to see what being blind would be like. I have given money to organizations that help the blind ever since.

I was a huge fan of Judy Blume's "Fudge" series, especially "Superfudge", when I was in grade school. In junior high it was "Indiana Jones and the White Witch" by Martin Caidin. In high school I was too busy transcribing video game music to spend a lot of time reading, but I enjoyed a couple books I read in classes, mainly "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest".

Being an old man I like the Erle Stanley Gardner Perry Mason series of detective stories. Lots of dialog. Wrote from 1933 til the late 50's. More recent author is Lee Child with his Jack Reacher thriller series. Or Spencer Quinn (Peter Abrahams) of the Chet and Bernie Mysteries.

Chet is the canine narrator of the series; Bernie is a down-on-his-luck private investigator.

OK I was born in 1946 so very few people have heard of this book but it was put out by Band-Aid bandages. I remember it was about Nancy the little girl who wanted to be a nurse and had a nurse's kit. At one time I had it memorized. All I remember is the phrase: Band-Aid bandages and "handy candy pills". Nowadays, it would be forbidden to equate candy with pills. Life was so different back then.
