YES Fish dose lose their scales. Sometimes my tinfoil barbs get terrified of something startling and smash against the sides of the tank, and a scale sometimes falls loose here and there. The scales do grow back and should be watched, but not treated with anything. Of course, scraping against decor or a fight could also cause this, but it's nothing to really worry about.
