Electromagnetic waves.

There are different names for electromagnetic radiation, depending on the frequency; radio, microwave, heat, light, UV, X-rays, gamma rays; all of these (and others) are different frequencies or "bands" of electromagnetic radiation.

No! Maxwell believed that the electromagnetic energy needs a medium to travel through space, this he called the ether.

I believe Space is not 'empty', the 'ether" exists in the form of space impedance z= 375 Ohms. The space impedance is also related to Planck's Constant, h.

h = QW and z = W/Q where Q is the quantum Charge 4/3 E-18 Coulombs and W = 500 E-18 Webers (Volt second). Plancks's Constant is h=zQ2

Electromagnetic energy travels through "empty space" by energizing the medium of electromagnetic charges Q and W.

The electromagnetic energy is E = hf = hc/r = Q2zc/r!

No. The earth receives no energy from the sun. Plants cannot grow,

and the sidewalk does not become hot in August.
