Antoine Lavoisier won a prize for figuring out a way to light the streets of Paris, discovered the role oxygen plays in combustion, and received a bachelor degree in college. He worked in geology and chemistry most of his life, and was involved in the French Revolution.
-----I wouldn't say the french revolution was an accomplishment. He was beheaded at the guillotine! However, he did have the basic idea of conservation of mass, which contributed to Einstein's E=mc^2. (but that is in many scientist's *opinion*)
Lavoisier did not receive a medal, but a medal was named after him.
A Lavoisier Medal is an award made by any of a number of bodies, for achievements in chemical related disciplines. The award is named for Antoine Lavoisier, considered by some to be a father of modern chemistry. Lavoisier Medal are issued by: * French Chemical Society (Société Française de Chimie) * International Society for Biological Calorimetry (ISBC) - the Lavoisier Medal is awarded to an internationally acknowledged scientist for an outstanding contribution to the development and/or the application of direct calorimetry in Biology and medicine * DuPont - the Lavoisier Medal for Technical Achievement is presented to DuPont scientists and engineers who have made outstanding contributions to DuPont and their scientific fields throughout their careers. Antoine Lavoisier mentored the founder of the company, E. I. du Pont, more than 200 years ago.
Pasteurisation is a way of removing impurities from food, notably milk. Pasteur also worked on a vaccine to immunise against hydrophobia (Rabies)
Discovering the viruses to pasteurise milk
He found a vaccine against rabies. He found ways of pasteurizing products. He discovered bacteria. He found how to make vaccines against diseases. What awards do u think he got!
Louis Pasteur achieved many things in his lifetime and he did win some awards. The awards he won are the Copley Medal, the Rumford Medal, Montyon Prizes and the Leeuwenhoek Medal.
