Woodrow Wilson did not have a good record on race relations. During his first term of office, a bill was passed outlawing interracial marriage in the District of Columbia. The departments of his Postmaster General, Treasury and Navy were all segregated. The general consensus was that Wilson had been raised as a southerner and deeply believed black people were his inferiors.

Woodrow Wilson's views on race would not be socially acceptable today. Though Wilson was politically progressive and liberal in his time, his legacy on race was regressive.
