Enjoyment of blood sports worldwide is so far in decline that few of them are practised openly anywhere, but it was not until the twentieth century that there was a serious decrease in such blood sports as bullfighting and fox hunting. Cockfighting, a sport where roosters are fitted with razor-sharp blades on their feet and fight each other, was a popular sport in Shakespeare's time and can occasionally be found to this day. Bearbaiting, where a chained bear was attacked by dogs, and bullbaiting, where the dogs attacked a bull instead, were both popular in Shakespeare's day and there was a special amphitheatre built for such sports. However, both of these blood sports have long ago disappeared.
